First of all let me begin by welcoming you to DRAGONGOLF.COM.AU My name is Darrell Dalton and as a full member of the Australian Professional Golfers Association (PGA) I am delighted to present this new website facility established to provide support for my teaching and event management programs.
‘Dragon Golf’ is a name we came up with as it represents a fearless beast and is synonymous with many cultures around the world. Regarded by many as a mythical creature, its notoriety from legend has been sustained through millennia from ancient China to medieval Europe and its form used to represent the most noble of empires, dynasties and kingdoms on coats of arms, pennants, flags and currency.
Personally, the Dragon has always been a favorite of mine as it represents enormous strength and power combined with incredible vulnerability. Struggling to exist in a world ruled by men such as the Viking hero Beowulf who is credited with killing the beasts and who himself died in a battle against one.
In terms of representing golf I feel the dragon is perfectly suited and our catch phrase “Breathe a little fire into your game…” may resonate with and invigorate players wanting to heat up their golf game.
Other phrases such as ‘I’m on fire’, “Burning it up”, ‘I’m hot’, ‘Hot Stuff’, ‘Lighting it up’...and the list goes on, are all associated with positive aspects of excelling not just on the golf course but in many other areas of our personal and professional life. So in this context we felt the decision to associate our teaching facility with a fire breathing icon was a positive one.
Golf has a reputation for emanating a conservative image and until recently with the likes of Tiger Woods and a plethora of young charismatic and flamboyant players on the rise, golf is at last transforming and shaking off the yawn factor given it by the vast majority of sports minded and not so sports minded audiences of the world.
